When a business has been around for 30 years, you know it's got to be good! It must have something that appeals to the masses. It must have great service, something different from other businesses and it must have fair prices. All of these are true about today's feature business and that's why I'm bringing them back to the blog for the third year in a row. That business is Chatham Flowers & Gifts in Chatham, NY. If you're wondering how I came upon a flower shop in Chatham and why I'd be featuring them in my Christmas series, it's a pretty cool story. One of my reader favorites on the blog is the Speckled Hen in Scotia, NY. The owner of the Speckled Hen, Maureen Culver, happens to be the sister of Kathleen Rohlfs.....the creative mastermind and owner (with her husband Frank) of Chatham Flowers. These two sisters have more creative genius between them than most of us could muster if we had a genie in a bottle to help us. Kathleen and her team of skilled floral designers create magic in their designs, big and small, and all of them are only the tip of the magical iceberg that is known as Chatham Flowers & Gifts. Behind the cozy white facade, a wonderland of wintry beauty awaits the most unsuspecting floral shopper.
My goal in doing a Christmas series each year is to share some of my favorite businesses, some you may know, some that might be new to you.....and hopefully all will inspire your holiday decorating and gift giving. As you can see already....from just one photo, Chatham Flowers & Gifts offers much more than flowers, although flowers are definitely their specialty. Their wedding flowers, bouquets, dish gardens and centerpieces are simply gorgeous, and so unique. But what makes this shop worthy of being included in my Christmas series is the fact that the shop is filled to the brim with such beautiful and unique gift items! I haven't decided yet if I'm sad or relieved that this shop is almost an hour away.
For a little taste of how exquisite their floral arrangements.....take a look at this bouquet! Have you ever seen anything so beautiful! Can you imagine how thrilled and how special the recipient of such a magnificent bouquet would feel? I can!!!
Our previous visits were a few weeks later, much closer to Christmas, so there were huge assortments of swags and wreaths and greenery for the holidays. I'm sure as the Christmas holiday gets nearer, those will be available. This weekend Chatham Flowers will be celebrating their 30th Anniversary with an Open House which will take place on Saturday, November 18th from 9:00-5:00. Chatham is an easy and scenic drive and Chatham Flower & Gifts is just a short hop down the road from the Mac-Haydn Theatre at 2117 Route 203, Chatham.
