The Main Street Ristorante & Gift Shoppe, owned and operated by Chef Kim Defaria and her husband Ryan, is unique not only because you get to browse the gift shoppe which is jam packed with great items for the home, but you also get to enjoy a scrumptious meal made by a talented and experienced Johnson & Wales graduate. This post may be part of a holiday series, but I'd be remiss if I weren't to tell you that it's a toss up deciding which is better - the food or the merchandise. Both are well worth the drive! First though, let's talk a little about the merchandise. From inspirational signs to curtains, from candles to coffee mugs, furniture to house paint, linens to lighting, there's something for everyone.
I realized after I edited and uploaded all of my photos that either Kim is just as crazy about snowmen as I am, or my eye and camera lens just happened to find every snowman in the store. Aren't they all adorable?
It's definitely the most wonderful time of the year at the Main Street Ristorante and Gift Shoppe. Once you've finished browsing, I know you will have worked up an appetite. Everything on the menu is fresh, homemade and delicious. We brought my mom on this trip and all three of us oooh'd and ahhh'd through our meals - or the half of them we were able to eat. We all chose from the daily specials - I ordered the Hot Pork Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes. John and my mom both chose the Chicken & Biscuits. Mama Mia.....talk about comfort food.
John had half of his chicken the next day for lunch and half of my pork sandwich for supper. Even the applesauce was delicious! I'm tellin' you, if the Main Street were in town, I'd be eating there weekly - it's that good!
Plan a visit to the Main Street Ristorante & Gift Shoppe soon. They are open from Wednesday-Saturday for lunch and dinner, and are located at 7431 Main Street, Route 28, in Newport, NY near Herkimer. I promise you'll love it. Kim and Ryan are warm and welcoming and I don't know anywhere you can go for better food and hospitality. Save room for dessert and if you love fresh baked pies or cheesecake, you're in luck!
