When people hear the word, hosta, they probably think about their grandmother's hostas - the old fashioned green and white variety. Those folks probably have no idea that hostas not come in hundreds of varieties today. Many of those varieties can be found locally at Shades of Green Nursery in Charlton NY.
I discovered Shades of Green many years ago, in fact I wrote my first blog about it back in 2014 when I first began blogging. Since then I've written at least 5 more blogs about this shade paradise and my yard is filled with gorgeous specimens I've collected over the years from this very nursery.
The thing that makes Shades of Green stand out from other nurseries is the setting. It's not your typical nursery. Shades of Green is more like a botanical garden spread over a couple acres of Wynne Trowbridge's front yard. Tucked among this peaceful setting are hundreds of potted hosta ready for picking at great prices.
One of the great things about shopping at Shades of Green is the ability to see established hosta and a large variety of other shade loving perennials so you can see the size and mature appearance of most hostas and perennials available for sale....all while feeling like you're visiting the most beautiful, native shade garden.
