Bond In Motion - Celebrating 60 Years of James Bond Movie Automobiles

“This is an Aston Martin, Gin. You don't run over dead bodies in an Aston Matin."
"Tell that to James Bond”

― Jennifer Estep, Web of Lies

This quote probably would have made no sense to me before today, but now it makes perfect sense.

For only the third time, the entire James Bond car collection is together, on display at the Saratoga Automobile Museum.  Until now, these cars have only been displayed together in Los Angeles and London and after this exhibit ends at the end of this year, it will never be seen in its entirety again.

When I asked hubby which car was his favorite, this 1964 Aston Martin DB5 was the one he picked.  Used in Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die, (sometimes after some overhauls), this beauty is one of the cars on display.
The exhibit celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Bond film franchise.  Bond in Motion was produced in collaboration with EON Productions and the Ian Fleming Foundation.  It is the largest official exhibition of the iconic vehicles used on-screen by James Bond 007 and his allies and adversaries.  Aren't we fortunate to have such a special collection right here in our own backyard!

This was our second visit to the Saratoga Automobile Museum which seems hard to believe since I grew up in Saratoga Springs. This might be the time to add a disclaimer: I am not a car aficionado in any stretch of the imagination, but there is no denying the beauty of the sleek lines, shiny accessories and pure fun I have photographing the cars on display here. I don't know if it's the gorgeous architecture of the museum, the lighting that so perfectly accents the cars or just the fact that cars can be gorgeous when one takes the time to appreciate them.  This exhibit was a perfect example of all of that.

If you've seen one, or all 27 James Bond movies, you will love this exhibit.  To be able to get close to these cars, celebrities in their own rite, watch clips of many of them, imagine Sean Connery, James Lazenby, Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Daniel Craig and and Timothy Dalton once sat in these vehicles.... it's hard not to get a little star struck.  Of course if you're an automobile aficionado, you'll be on Cloud 9.
On the second floor of the museum you'll find a Racing in NYS exhibit and this vehicle, The Woodstock 'Light' Bus commissioned to be painted for the Baltimore based rock group, Light, for the Woodstock Festival.

The Saratoga Automobile Museum is open daily from 10:00-5:00.  For more information about the exhibit or the museum in general:

If you have never been to the museum, or if you haven't seen Bond in Motion yet, I urge you to find time to go before it's too late.  Thanks for stopping by Life As I See It.  To read more blogs about some of the great destinations our area has to offer, check out my blog Directory using this link:
