Vermont in Autumn......there's nothing much more quintessential or more sought after than that. As much as I love New York and find so much beauty to photograph here, it's tough to beat Vermont in the height of autumn.
We took a drive to Vermont last Tuesday and caught the foliage at its peak. Unlike most tourists who visit Vermont's popular attractions - Manchester, the outlets, Northshire Books and all this picturesque state has to offer, our mission is pretty much the opposite of that. Our goal is to keep our travel confined to dirt roads as much as possible, off the beaten path, where travel at a speed more like 10 or 15 mph is the norm.
Although our journey did take us through Bennington, Manchester and Dorset, the main roads served only as a connector to roads less traveled. Our only stops were a pit stop at Stewarts, and a quick lunch from Amy's on the Road food truck on their last day of the season. One more stop at the Dorset Marble Quarry before heading home made for a wonderful fall getaway. Come along on our road trip and enjoy the view!
Beginning in Bennington...........
Then on to Shaftsbury......
And Arlington......
And Danby......
