Now I will confess that at the Vischer Ferry General Store, you won't be among crowds of shoppers if that's 'your thing', and you won't find the latest hot gift of the year. You also won't lose your car in the parking lot. What you will find though is a relaxed atmosphere in a small, community gathering place that's filled with unique and wonderful gifts, delicious coffee and yummy food. We stopped in for a little breakfast recently, not intending to do a blog post, but I was glad I had my camera with me because I can't resist sharing this gem of a shop with you again. It's the perfect place to get away from the holiday madness where you can relax, sip something hot and buy some really wonderful gifts.
If you love whimsy, you'll love these little felt animals! They are full of personality!
If you haven't been to the Vischer Ferry General Store yet, and haven't seen my two previous posts.....here's a couple earlier pics of the rest of the shop:
Anytime is a good time to visit, but this Sunday, December 8th at 1:30 some members of the Niskayuna H.S. choral group will be singing carols. What better way to take a break from the holiday rush than to relax for a bit in this truly special restored piece of history. Thanks for a lovely post, Gail. You've really captured the essence of the store. Even the title says it all, as we do want to be a respite from the chaos! We feel the holidays are to be enjoyed, and shopping should be a pleasant experience, not a chore. Hope you can join us on Sunday to hear the carolers!
