The Perfect Respite from the Holiday Chaos at the Vischer Ferry General Store

So, we've entered December and that means the official Christmas rush has begun.  For the next few weeks, most of us will be participating in the Amazing Race to the Christmas finish line attempting to deck the halls, fill the stockings, choose the perfect gifts, plan the holiday gatherings and somehow keep daily life afloat without having a mental and physical breakdown by December 24th.  Why do we do this to ourselves??  Christmas should be joyful and merry, the most wonderful time of the year, right?  Yet it seems that we allow ourselves to get caught up in the chaos, the crowds and the need to create the perfect holiday and in that quest for perfection, we lose the spirit and forget the true meaning of Christmas.   I can't tell you how to avoid getting swept away in that whirlwind, but I can tell you how to take some time away from it and that's to take an hour or so to relax over a hot drink and some yummy food at the Vischer Ferry General Store.

Now I will confess that at the Vischer Ferry General Store, you won't be among crowds of shoppers if that's 'your thing', and you won't find the latest hot gift of the year.  You also won't lose your car in the parking lot.  What you will find though is a relaxed atmosphere in a small, community gathering place that's filled with unique and wonderful gifts, delicious coffee and yummy food.  We stopped in for a little breakfast recently, not intending to do a blog post, but I was glad I had my camera with me because I can't resist sharing this gem of a shop with you again.  It's the perfect place to get away from the holiday madness where you can relax, sip something hot and buy some really wonderful gifts.

If you love whimsy, you'll love these little felt animals!  They are full of personality!

You'll love the Vischer Ferry General Store.  It's an old fashioned neighborhood gathering place where regulars meet for morning coffee and conversation while they read the daily newspaper.  It's a place where customers are greeted by name and every guest is welcomed with warmth and a smile. The hospitality is plentiful and the merchandise is an array of elegant to rustic, whimsical to educational.  You'll be sure to find something for even the most challenging person on your gift list.
