Experience is a multifaceted business at 510 Union Street in Schenectady. It's been around for a long time but I first became aware of it about 7 years ago. Rudy Grant and David E. Siders have combined beautiful things for the home with a multitude of services including Interior Design, Floral Design & Supplies, Event Planning, Linen Rentals, and Fresh Flowers for Events & Weddings. It's a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year, but my favorite time is during the Christmas holidays. When I approached David this morning and asked permission to take photos for the blog, he immediately said yes, followed by a little apology that things wouldn't look as good as they did in early November. That may be so - in his eyes - but I defy you to find anything but beauty in each and every view I captured. I've loved every store I've featured in this series, but there's something about Experience that just makes me feel like a kid again. Experience makes you feel like you're in the middle of a magical wonderland full of snow-covered trees and beautiful decorations.....
I wanted to make every picture in this blog huge, but then you'd be scrolling for days. Instead, just click on any photo for a larger view. Then click the 'back' arrow to return to the blog.
Around every corner is a different color scheme.....
I'm rarely at a loss for words, as you know, but I think this is one post where the photos speak for themselves. There is nothing to say about Experience other than it is breathtakingly beautiful. The one thing I do want to say is that although the photos might give the impression that Experience is only for the rich and famous, there is plenty of merchandise that is affordable for regular folks like me. In fact....I may have come home with a few new baubles today. How could I not????? If you've never been to Experience before, you must make a trip there before the holidays are over. If you are the handy type and prefer to make your own wreaths, swags, or floral arrangements, Experience has a huge selection of all the components you will need. And if you're not so inclined.....have no fear, Experience has just the people to make you holiday decorating dream come true. Experience also offers classes.....this weekend on Sunday they'll be giving a complimentary lecture on Boxwood shapes and how to decorate them at 1:00. Then at 2:00 you can pay a fee and decorate your own Boxwood! Then next weekend on Sunday they'll offer another complimentary symposium style lecture on holiday and New Year's arrangements, followed by a fee based class at 2:00, again where you make your own arrangement. To read more about Experience and these classes, links to their website and Facebook page are included below.
Stay tuned because in my next post I'll be giving you a little tour of the beautiful Schenectady Stockade, an historical neighborhood brimming with architectural detail. Following that post, I've got a tour of the Historic Pruyn House in Newtonville, decked out in its holiday finest! Thanks for reading and come back soon to Life As I See It.
