One of my favorite places to witness the evolution of spring is at Landis Arboretum in Esperance, NY. A fellow photographer friend shared this treasure with me a couple years ago and what a treasure it is! I blogged about Landis before, so if you're interested in the history and a closer look at the arboretum, you can check out the post using this link: http://gwfirecracker.blogspot.com/2014/04/in-previous-blog-post-i-mentioned.html There you'll find a map of the many trails and lots of photos too. Everywhere you look as you wander around Landis you'll find signs of spring and that's just what we found during our visit yesterday.

Aside for swallows, red-winged blackbirds, and bluebirds, we've spotted Eastern Towhees, Eastern bluebirds, Yellowbellied Sapsuckers and more. If you're a gardener, Landis Arboretum contains labeled specimens of over 2000 trees, shrubs, and herbaceous perennials. Whether you want to wander the many trails or just sit on a bench and quietly observe the view, Landis offers something for everyone.
