It's beginning to look a lot like.....Autumn.....especially on Route 40 in Schaghticoke, NY at The Farm Stand at Tiashoke.
I first discovered The Farm Stand at Tiashoke in 2019 and it's become an annual autumn destination ever since. I'm often a little late to the game when it comes to discovering local treasures and this is no exception. Tiashoke Farm has been selling pumpkins on Route 40 for 20 years. The Ziehm family grows over 50 varieties of pumpkins in all shapes, sizes and colors and as always, I have trouble choosing just a few. You will too.
From my 2019 blog feature, "While it may seem right now that pumpkins are the Ziehm's pride and joy, their first love and passion is their dairy farm. With over 1000 cows, Tiashoke Farm is a member of AgriMark, the owners of Cabot Cheese. Tiashoke Farm is owned by brothers Brian, Eric and Terry Ziehm. The Ziehms moved to Washington County over 50 years ago from Krumkill Road in Albany. With the low and/or unstable prices for their product, the Ziehms supplement their farm income by selling pumpkins. They also sell home grown beef and pork. With seven children ages 6-16, representing the fifth generation on the family farm, everyone has a hand or two in the business from harvesting pumpkins, restocking the stand, manning the booth and learning about business....this is a real 'family affair'."
The Farm Stand is open daily from 9:00-6:00. They accept cash, checks and Venmo. In addition to pumpkins, they also sell gourds, corn stalks, mums and straw bales. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the beauty. A visit to The Farm Stand will be on your annual autumn itinerary too - if it isn't already!
