In my last post about the Beech Tree Bed & Breakfast I promised more posts on Rockport, MA and its attractions. In keeping with that promise and knowing that you are anxious to have reason to stay at the Beech Tree, I begin my "Rockport Tales" with a post about the historic village of Rockport.
The village of Rockport, is located on the northeast tip of Cape Ann, 37 miles from Boston. Rockport hosts a thriving artist community and some of the most
widely painted sea and landscapes in the world, including Motif #1. The
harbor remains home to an active fishing fleet, offering visitors a
unique chance to observe artists at their craft or lobstermen hauling
their traps. On Bearskin Neck visitors can stroll from shop to shop browsing everything from art to jewelry to fashion with a variety of eateries along the way. From the Top Dog to Helmut Strudel, from the Roy Moore Lobster Company, to Tuck's Candy (to name only a few).....you'll have plenty of choices when it's time to refuel. Some trivia........ The Proposal (with Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Betty White) was partially filmed in Rockport's Bearskin Neck. It's no wonder the producers chose Rockport. It's charm and family-friendly atmosphere gives visitors plenty to do as well as places to sit back and enjoy the view.
I could go on an on about what I love - and what you'll love - about Rockport, but I think I'll just let the photos speak for me. With all there is to do there, I recommend a visit lasting 3 days or more, and if you are like me and dislike crowds, weekdays are a little less busy. No matter when you go - early in the season or in September, I know you will be glad you did.
