Dirt roads often lead to beautiful destinations and I could spend the rest of my days exploring all of them. Some people lust over the mountains, others lust over a tropical paradise, or shopping for bargains, but I find my happy place along a dirt road in the country. Far from the hustle and bustle of civilization, traffic, and noise, I'm most at peace on a dirt road, cornfields out my window, old barns in the distance and the sounds of birdsong out my open window.
One of the advantages to being retired is the ability to escape the chaos as much as we choose, often visiting familiar landscapes and sometimes drifting into parts unknown with no particular destination in mind. This week we ventured out, headed for the country near the boundaries of Rensselaer and Washington Counties, occasionally looking at the GPS to see where we were. As is typical in upstate NY, the weather changed a number of times during our outing making the view fresh and ever changing. Come along on our dirt road escape....
It may look ordinary to some, but for us, a ride in the quiet country is food for the soul and a trip back to the basics. There's no distractions, only the beautiful scenery and the sounds of nature to remind us how lucky we are. I don't need Calgon to take me away....just my hubby and a full tank of gas....and my camera. Glad you could come along too! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by Life As I See It.
