Basking in the Autumn Welcome of the Historic Schenectady Stockade

Friday, October 2, 2020

Max Eastman once said, "A smile is the universal welcome".  If that theory applied to front doors, the happiest, most welcoming neighborhood would be the Schenectady Stockade.  With it's historic feel, it's ornate architecture and colorful doors - most of which are adorned with autumn decorations.....the Stockade emanates a joyful welcome as visitors travel through this special district.  I've featured the Stockade at least 5 times here on the blog, in the full bloom of spring and decorated for the holidays, but this week for the first time, we documented the colorful doors in all their autumn finery.  Come along as I take you on a tour of the Schenectady Stockade!

Well, what do you think? Welcoming, right? Did you notice all the shadows too from the afternoon sun?  Does your front door smile and welcome visitors like these entries?    As you approach the weekend.....consider this theory.....a smile is the universal welcome.  We all have so much on our hearts and minds these days.  Sometimes it's difficult to walk around smiling but as you cross paths this weekend with friends, or strangers, remember to smile.  Welcome people into your inner joy and spread peace, joy and love.  Make your heart and your home a place where people feel at home and welcome!  To check out my previous posts featuring the Stockade, go to my Directory and search the first category: Destinations: New York  Thanks for stopping by!  Now go out and enjoy Autumn!
