I can't get enough of this place.......the land of the Amish right here in our neck of the woods. I can't explain it, what draws me here, but I could ride up and down these roads all day. Aside from being loaded with photo ops, it's just really beautiful, serene countryside. Today's post isn't about words -I've already written twice about this area and the people who live here. Today's post is about telling a story with photos. Come along with me as I take you on a tour of Amish Country in Spring! This community isn't about pristine, freshly painted barns, or homes off magazine pages or Pinterest boards. It's about a group of people, their religion, their way of life.....a life different from yours and mine, a life without frills and conveniences, but a life that they believe in, that honors their religion. This simple place reminds me of the differences between wants and needs and assures me that happiness depends on something more than what modern culture would have us believe. I probably wouldn't be able to live the Amish way of life, but that doesn't stop me from being a little infatuated with it and thirsty for as much of it as I can see from my camera lens.
I thought this was really neat.....and example of the Amish work ethic. My shoes are never lined up this neat ...... anywhere!
This photo looks edited but the grass was exactly this color and the yellow....those are dandelions!
Snacktime!
Notice four children in the photo.....all wearing blue. Click on photo for larger view. |
Notice young man walking the three horses.
