Part 2 - Getting a Jump on the Holidays

Welcome back!  If you've been away a day or so, thanks for coming back.  If you missed my last post, let me bring you up to speed.  I am currently in the middle of a mini-series of posts that will hopefully not only get you into the holiday spirit, but will introduce you to some really awesome places that can make your shopping a whole lotta fun!  Yesterday I began the series at the September Morning Alpaca Farm and the grand opening of their new gift shop.......today I take you north, over the river and through the woods to probably the newest gift shop around - Ye Olde Farmhouse Gift Shoppe at Lakeside Farm!

Lakeside Farm is a well-known, and well loved establishment to most folks.  Their delicious breakfasts and lunches bring folks from all over the capital region.  Their produce, apple barn, cider and of course cider donuts are all the rage.  In fact, the cider itself was so successful, the Pearce family decided to open a retail store way back in 1958.   By 1963 the farm store expanded and began selling pies, salad, sandwiches and other products.  Breakfasts were added in 1990, and now Lakeside Farm was so popular they needed a larger dining area.  If this piece were about the food at Lakeside, I would go on and on about how delicious everything is....based on 36 years of personal diligent taste testing, but since this is about the Gift Shoppe, I'll have to save those stories for another time.  Eventually Lakeside expanded into a catering business and soon a pavilion was built in order to host large groups, craft fairs and other events.  It's pretty obvious the Pearce family knows what they're doing and everyone out there loves what they're doing, so it seems completely natural that they would expand again, this time opening Ye Olde Farmhouse Gift Shoppe.

I'm making a disclaimer right here.....once you are done reading this post, you WILL want to go shopping and you WILL most likely buy a thing or two or three.  I will not be held accountable for your actions.  But....I'm also betting you will cross a gift or two off your list and maybe even come home with something for yourself in the process.

As soon as you enter the Farmhouse, you will realize you aren't in just any ordinary store.  The Pearce family has maintained the beauty of the architecture of the farmhouse, so as you browse, you will feel at home and relaxed as you wander from room to room.  Each room represents a different theme and each is filled with all sorts of unique, quality merchandise.  Whether you are shopping for homegoods, apparel, gift items, or the children in your life....you'll find it here at the Farmhouse. Here's a peak at what's in store when you visit......

This is a good time to remind you that if you click on any photo, you will be taken to a slideshow format where you can view each photo in a larger format ....... and really see all the great stuff the Farmhouse has to offer.

Grandmas beware.....this is the room where your money will flow......so, so many neat things for those little ones in your life!

Are you still with me, or have you hopped in your car on your way to Ye Old Farmhouse Gift Shoppe?  I know......it's pretty amazing.  And these photos don't even do it justice!  It's a must see for sure.  And while you're there, you'll work up an appetite, so save some time and money and grab a bite next door.  You'll regret it if you don't.  For the record....they have amazing apple dumplings!

If you want to visit, don't delay.  Lakeside Farm and the Gift Shoppe will be closing on Christmas Eve and won't reopen until the last week in April.  But until then, you have plenty of time to check it out and satisfy even the most picky person on your Christmas list.  Lakeside Farms is open 7 days a week.  From now until December 24, their hours are 7:30a.m.-5:00pm.   The Gift Shoppe is open from 9:00a.m.-5:00 p.m.  Make a date and visit soon and tell them I sent you.   Lakeside Farm is located on Shauber Road in Ballston Lake.   Just take a left off of I-87 (coming north) or a right if you're coming south.  Lakeside is just 2.5 miles down the road.  Easy to get to and hard to leave!
If you need any more convincing......Santa will be visiting Lakeside Farm on Saturday, December 7th from 12:00-3:00pm.!
Don't forget to come back soon for another treasure, Part III in my series of Getting a Jump on the Holidays!  You won't want to miss it!  And if you think your favorite shop would be a great addition to this series.....just let me know and I'll check it out.  As always, thanks for reading and please share this blog with your friends!
