It's easy to get caught up in the stress and chaos of holiday preparations, but today we took a break from all that to enjoy a relaxing visit to the Schenectady County Historical Society Festival of Trees.
Although my photos didn't come out as good as previous visits, they still capture the ambiance of Christmas in the beautiful museum and give a glimpse of the abundant imagination and creativity of so many groups and individuals who sponsored and decorated the trees on display. It's hard to believe that in 90+ trees, there is no duplication of themes! Visitors to the exhibit (those over 12) pay a $6 admission fee and the proceeds benefit numerous programs and services provided by the SCHS. The exhibit runs until December 23rd from 10:00-4:30 daily. The Historical Society is located at 32 Washington Avenue in the beautiful Schenectady Stockade.
This is just a sampling of the trees on display. Visitors are invited to vote for their favorite but I wouldn't know where to even begin with picking even a handful from the group. There were so many unique themes, so many beautiful handmade ornaments - including several on a tree that really grabbed my attention.....I was so mesmorized, I never took a photo of the tree!
