Everything Old Is New Again - A Sparkly, Artsy Christmas at Schuyler Pond

Tuesday, December 1, 2015
It's that time....that brief window between Thanksgiving and Christmas when a few weeks feels more like a few days..when we are in high gear decorating, shopping, preparing......all for one day that seems to be over in the blink of an eye.  You know what I mean, right?  Even so, this is a magical time and no matter how much we whine and complain about it, we love Christmas and everything leading up to it - even if it is exhausting and a little stressful.  There isn't a more beautiful time!  The key, it seems, is to stay focused on the true meaning of Christmas and not let all the deadlines and shopping lists muddle our heads and steal our joy.

Speaking of joy..... I have one last installment in my Christmas series and what a fun series it's been. Today's store is Schuyler Pond...an old favorite of mine in Saratoga County between Saratoga and Schuylerville.  I saved this one because this coming weekend is their Sparkly, Artsy Open House. Here's a little preview of some of the cool things you'll see when you visit........

Anyone who is even a little familiar with Schuyler Pond knows that a huge feature there is the beautiful artwork of Jennifer Lanne.   In addition to her gorgeous canvas paintings, her work is now also featured on coasters, placemats and more!

I love how Amanda, owner of this spectacular property, mixes old and new and in doing so takes you back to another time.......

If you are smitten with what you've just seen, you must visit Schuyler Pond this coming weekend, December 5th & 6th, from 10:00-5:00 for their Merriest Yet Celebration - a Sparkly, Artsy Open House featuring many of Schuyler Pond's contributing artists.  Local artist, Crystal Sloane creates figurines and ornaments using the lost art of spun cotton, a technique begun a century ago in Victorian Germany.  www.vintagebycrystal.com.   Crystal will be joining other local artists, artisans and craftsmen including, Jennifer Lanne (original artwork), Beth Cunningham (jewelry and decor) , Katie Camarro (Sundae's Best Hot Fudge), Blair Donnelly (vintage inspired jewelry and accessories), Denis Ferentinos (upcycled furniture and wall sculpture), David Leggett (repurposed furniture), Jody White (painted furnishings & salvage), and Sweet Mimi's (homemade baked goods).  Crystal will attend Saturday only.  Wow.... sounds like fun and what an honor to get to meet all of these talented people who's handiwork make Schuyler Pond such a special place to shop!  The 'perfect gift' may not exist, but I think you can probably find the closest thing to it at Schuyler Pond!  Come on out this weekend and see for yourself.

To get a look at some of the other great stuff at Schuyler Pond - that is not Christmas related, check out my previous blog....http://www.lifeasiseeitphotography.net/2015/03/if-spring-came-in-store-part-iv.html

Thanks for allowing me an excuse to visit all these amazing shops!  Not that I needed an excuse, but in my next post I'll be giving you a little holiday house tour and with a peek at some of the treasures I've acquired along my shop tour for this series ;)   Thanks for reading and come back soon to Life As I See It.   For more information on Schuyler Pond, visit their website and Facebook page using these links:
